Range
& Match Information
We
utilize a state-of-the-art 300 yard, 10 firing point range, with
excellent target pits. Most
of our matches start with signup at 8:00 AM and pits will seal by about
8:45. We hold both NRA
Sanctioned and CMP Games matches.
Most days we will shoot only 2 relays, which allows us to
complete most matches within 4 hours.
We also occasionally utilize 3 relays depending on the number of
shooters present.

RAPID FIRE PROCEDURES
As you may be aware, both the NRA and CMP have changed their
procedures for rapid fire this year.
See the NRA rules
here.
See the CMP rules
here.
For all NRA Sanctioned matches at Wildcat, we will be offering a
mixed-bag, allowing each shooter to consider themselves an “NRA Shooter”
or “CMP Shooter”. If you are
chasing a classification change with the NRA, or if you are not sure
which to choose, consider yourself an "NRA Shooter”.
If you are practicing for CMP EIC Leg Matches, then consider
yourself a “CMP
Shooter”. Here are the
commands you will hear, right after the sighter period, and when targets
come to half mast:
“NRA Shooters, as a reminder, standing is optional.
Either way, your rifle must not be in your shoulder, and your
ammunition must be on the ground or your stool, until targets appear.
If you stand, you may only load after sitting or kneeling.
Any NRA Shooter wishing to stand, and all CMP Shooters, STAND.
CMP Shooters, with your bolt closed on an empty chamber, load.”
·
ADVANCED HIGHPOWER TRAINING
Training continues and is open to anyone who is experienced
enough to be classified by the NRA.
This training provides serious methodologies to allow you to
improve each of your positions, and ultimately your overall score.

VOLUNTEER MATCH DIRECTORS
An important part of the culture at Wildcat Valley Rifle & Pistol
Club, is to have regular shooter volunteer to be a Match Director for
one match per year. We don’t
have paid officials, so this allows everyone to shoot all matches except
one, spreading the work around.
We have detailed match commands that virtually anyone can follow.
Wildcat members can get work hours for running a match.
Here is the current list of volunteers for this year.

WORK PROJECTS
Club members looking for work hours, or wanting to volunteer for
some small work projects, can contact Dave Schnelle about one of these
items that currently need to be done.
For larger projects, we’ll assign a club member to be the point
person, and we’ll list their names at the end of the project description
below.
1.
200 Yard Firing Points.
I’d like to have someone volunteer to take the lead on a project
to get a small amount of dirt spread on the low spots on the 200 yard
line, add some seed and fertilizer, and then mark out new firing points
just in front of the existing ones.
If we tackle this early, we’ll be in good shape by mid-year.
2.
Grass cutting. Almost
always needs to be done, particularly between 200 yard line and the
targets.
3.
Target Frame Rust. We
are starting to develop some rust on the target frames.
I’d like to have someone volunteer to take the lead on a project
to wire brush the worst spots (just a few small ones) and then paint
some good quality Rustoleum on all metal parts.
Could be done one or two frames at a time, not necessarily all 10
at one session.
4.
New Range Rule Signs.
The Executive Board has asked each discipline to make new range rule
signs. Our first step is to
detail what rules we want posted, and where.
